Our aims are:
Each year group in both the Senior and Junior departments are taught a collection of sports using a variety of teaching styles.
Building on their work in early years, all girls take part in a 10 week self defence course. They also complete a term of aerobics in the second term. In single lesson periods they have a choice of Hockey Netball, Football or Fitness.
The course is 60% practical and 40% theory. All girls are offered the chance to take PE as an option, however they are required to join in with all the extra curricular clubs in order to gain excellent practical grades. In the practical element of the course four activities have to be chosen, each being marked out of ten.
This is 30% practical and 70% theory. The pupils learn about sport before 1900 as well as doing case studies on the Olympics. Scientific content covers anatomy and physiology and training. For the practical element they have to compete in two sports.

St Augustine’s Priory is set within 13 acres, providing us not only with space for the girls to play and relax, but also with a great deal of outdoor sports facilities, such as:
The girls only leave the School site for swimming, to attend a local swimming pool which is hired for lessons and squad training.
