Psychology is the study of behaviour.
Why is it that we can remember where we were when we heard that the twin towers had fallen down in New York but we forget an appointment? Why do we behave the way we do? Why do we find it easier to make friends with some people and not others? Why do we experience certain types of dreams?
Psychology is offered as an A level subject here at St Augustine’s Priory. We follow the AQA specification 'A' syllabus where pupils will examine scientific research and methodology. They will also develop skills of analysis, interpretation and evaluation along with an understanding of Cognitive, Social, Developmental and Physiological theory.
Research methods are an important focus of study where physiological investigations are designed and reported and data analysed and interpreted.
The course is suitable for those pupils who wish to develop their interest and enjoyment in Psychology. Plenty of support and materials are given to help girls achieve the grades they deserve.
