Outside the Classroom

"I love it here. There are so many things to try. I would not want to go to any other school."
(Lower V Pupil)

St Augustine's is a dynamic community and offers many exciting and challenging  activities which compliment the girls' academic studies and make their lives more fulfilling and more fun. Naturally ICT supports girls' learning at all stages of the curriculum, for further details please refer to the Department  pages.

There are numerous clubs which take place before and after school and at lunchtimes.  These range from music to drama and to all sorts of sport. Public speaking is  a real strength of the School and the girls compete successfully at local, national and international competitions.

Field trips, visits to the theatres, art galleries, museums, activity centres  and concerts enhance study courses and many girls take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's  Award Scheme travelling as far a field as China, Nepal and a husky sledding expedition to Norway.  Other recent trips have included a hike on Gibraltar, an expedition to Borneo and skiing trips both to North America and European resorts. Trips planned so far for 2012 include an expedition to Morocco, a geography fieldtrip to Iceland and skiiing in Italy.

There are frequent  guest speakers, workshops led by visiting artists, lectures, outside courses,  a foreign exchange programme and trips abroad for language work or just for fun on the ski slopes. The school also has excellent links with the local community and girls regularly help the elderly or children with special needs. They are  also highly ingenious in raising money for charity.

These trips and outings are also supplemented with many weird and wonderful special events and activities hosted at St Augustine's, such as Rocket Day, Chemistry Week, National Veterans' Day Commemorations, Murder in the Meadow - CSI Ealing, Time Travel Day and Out of This World Day, to name a few.

These events allow the girls to explore a particular topic in depth and aim to enrich the curriculum with fun, interactive workshops delivered by experts from relevant industries.

"Girls are very well prepared to play a constructive part in society and become well-informed and thinking adults."
