The Sixth Form

The Sixth Form is different. It is an exciting and challenging experience which enhances the lives of all its students. Girls blossom in the Sixth Form, thriving on their greater independence and freedom while still relying on a framework of support. The timetable is designed around the student and aims to provide the greatest possible flexibility, so that girls can study almost any combination of the more than 20 subjects available at A Level. A wide-ranging Enrichment programme forms a vital part of the Sixth Form experience. An optional Leadership Course is also available.
The Sixth Formers have their own spacious common room (with their own kitchen), recently refurbished seminar rooms, private study rooms and the Scriptorium for quiet study. While classes are small and relationships with students relaxed, staff constantly monitor and review their progress to ensure that the standard of performance is maintained.
To a great extent, the Sixth Form runs the School. Each Sixth Former is responsible for leadership within the School and also for contributing practical ideas for its development and improvement. The Head Girl and School Officials organise trips and social events, act as mentors to younger pupils, support teachers and raise funds for charity. The girls enter the Sixth Form as pupils; they leave as colleagues.

Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, girls are given personal guidance from their Tutors to assess their abilities and strengths so that they make confident and informed decisions about their future. In addition the UCAS Advisory Department supports and guides the students through their University and course selection, application process and interview preparation. We expect our girls to go to university and to read anything from Archaeology to Veterinary Science.
