Music and Drama

Learning to act and make music together is an important part of school life

"My favourite lesson is Drama. I love it. It's really fun."
(Form III pupil)

St Augustine's has an enviable reputation for music and drama and girls of all age groups regularly delight parents and friends in the exciting and innovative performances which take place at least once a term. This has recently included a whole school production of 'The Mikado', 'Jane Eyre', 'Dr Faustas' performed in the Meadow and the girls are currently rehearsing for an all school production of the musical 'Bugsy Malone'. Pupils often go to West End concerts and theatres and the school frequently welcomes professional theatre companies and workshop groups.

All girls study drama and those who wish to develop their talents can progress to GCSE and A Level. Many of our former students study Drama at University.

violin "St Augustine's encourages you to be an all-rounder,
to have a go at everything without the fear of failing."

(Head of Drama)

Pupils' talents and skills are celebrated throughout the year in a wonderful repertoire of events which includes a Music Festival, Summer Serenade and Carol Service in Ealing Abbey.

Taught by qualified musicians, girls can learn to play a wide range of musical instruments including the fife, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola, cello, piano, harp and guitar as well as participating in the school orchestras and choirs. The school caters for every musical taste and a vast number of bands and ensembles meet at lunchtimes and after school. St Augustine's orchestra and chorus have performed successfully in Austria, Holland, Prague and Florence.

'The school provides a wide range of high quality enrichment activities which make learning interesting and which pupils enjoy.'
